Don’t Miss the Salsa Festival on Fillmore This July!
The dancing and obvious metaphors really heat up this July for the fourth annual Salsa Festival on Fillmore this July 12th and 13th on Fillmore Street between Eddy and Post. Whether you’re a resident of the Bay Area or are planning a mid-July visit, you don’t want to miss out on the music, dancing, great food, good vibes and general conviviality of this new and very popular street festival. The lucky folks attending one or both days of the festival can take salsa lessons from patient and enthusiastic instructors and then apply what they have learned right there on Fillmore, along with thousands of other people getting their collective groove on. There will be plenty of fiery and authentic foods to eat and refreshing things to drink from local vendors when dancers need a break to recharge and some of the best people watching you’ll find anywhere.
The live music featured at this festival is hot and virtually guaranteed to make the most curmudgeonly in your group shake at least one appendage, or break down and shake them all after a couple of mojitos or cold beers. This event attracts some of the very best salsa musicians and dance instructors from around the Bay Area, the country and the salsa world, and more come every year as this festival’s reputation increases each year. This year, organizers have put together a tribute to the Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz. Bands in this year’s lineup include these:

One- and two-night passes are available online for $20 and $40, respectively, and the party is scheduled to continue until 1:30 a.m. on Sunday the 14th. The festival will feature six different music venues along Fillmore, as well as nearby clubs and restaurants.
